Summer Wildflower Wedding in Kansas - Alyssa & Hunter

Hi! I’m Stefanie, a Kansas City wedding florist serving much of the Midwest. My main gig is wife to a super cool guy, mom to two adorable kiddos, and Head Snuggler of a fluffy yellow pup. Obviously you’re here looking for real wedding inspiration, not my life story, so let's get going.

Summer Wildflower Wedding - Kansas Wedding Florist

Probably one of the highest honors a florist can have is a recommendation to a friend. Even higher is when a family chooses you for their second wedding in two years! If only I’d known them a year earlier, I could have been in on the wedding for the third sibling who also recently got married.  I still get to call myself their family florist, which is a great title.

After designing Harper’s lovely white winter wedding, we took a total 180 and created a bright and colorful mid-summer wedding for her brother Hunter and his lovely bride, Alyssa. I didn’t know how I felt about a purple and yellow wedding, but I absolutely fell in love with this whole design. There are so many hues and textures to be found in those two colors, and it was really special to use lavender I grew in my own garden!

Alyssa wanted petite wildflower posies for the bouquets and a wildflower boutonniere for Hunter, so all of the personal floral was very sweet and understated.

This design, heavy on lavender and sunflowers, is pure joy.  It was so cheerful and bright, and went perfectly with the rustic setting and Alyssa’s cool cowboy boots.

If there’s one floral item I would recommend for making a big impact, it’s Smilax Vine. I absolutely love it for creating large-scale backdrops, and the massive barn doors at the venue were a perfect space for installing it. Fun fact: It’s basically a weed that grows in the South, and it’s not available for most of the summer. We were lucky to score a beautiful box of the good stuff for this July date, and it didn’t disappoint.

Another piece that I loved creating was this gorgeous spray for the wooden cross. It came together so easily, with all of the colors really working together so well.

Photos of this event were captured by my pal Shana at W the Studio. It’s always a blast working weddings with your real-life friends, especially when you can try to make them laugh while they’re aiming for professionalism. I’m nothing if not a total grown-up.

Why I Love StoneBriar Farm - Kansas Wedding Venue

Stonebriar Farm is a great place to get married, mostly because I love a peaceful, pastoral setting with a family-owned venue. The whole family pitches in, and there are usually grandkids running around during design walk-throughs. The owners are so kind and helpful, and with only one wedding per weekend on the property, they are so flexible with times for setting up and deliveries. I can’t stress enough how nice it is to have plenty of time and space for vendors to set up… it makes a HUGE difference.
