Christmas Wedding Flowers at Loose Mansion | Kayli & Will

Red white and evergreen bridal bouquet

Hi! I’m Stefanie, a Lees Summit wedding florist serving Kansas, Missouri, Michigan, and much of the Midwest. My main gig is wife to a super cool guy, mom to two adorable kiddos, and Head Snuggler of a fluffy yellow pup. Obviously you’re here looking for real wedding inspiration, not my life story, so let's get going.

Christmas Wedding Flowers - Kansas City Wedding Florist

The joy of every florist is a client that is (a) just a lovely person and (b) trusts you implicitly. I hit the jackpot with this sweet couple and the amazing Mother-of-the-Bride! When I sat in on the tail-end of a catering meeting and Will said he would be eating his body weight in grilled cheese and tomato soup shooters, I knew he was my kind of people.

Working with Noelle (the MOB) was so much fun.  She made decisions easily, knew exactly what they wanted, and was so supportive and excited when they saw it all come together. It was a joy and privilege to be a part of this familys sacred day!

The floral design was intended to be Christmas, Christmas, and more Christmas. So we went all in with red, burgundy, and white floral, evergreen touches everywhere, and about 300 feet of heavy duty evergreen garland trailing down three flights of a historical, handcrafted wooden banister. We placed red ribbons and winter textures as often as possible, and played it all up with gold compotes and lots of candles.

The day was absolutely frigid, but the photographer (Mary Frances Photography) and her second shooter (Lauren Benson Photography) were pros out in the cold! Can we also give it up for our bride, Kayli, who was out there in that sleeveless dress looking like it was no big deal? The ceremony was held at Christ Community Brookside, a lovely old church in Kansas City with historical wood decor and stained glass windows. We placed beribboned evergreen swags on the ends of the aisles, and the rest of the holiday decor was already in place.

Loose Mansion - Kansas City Wedding Venue

The reception was held at Loose Mansion, an extravagant historical venue in Kansas City. The lower level was set up for a light meal, cocktails, and cake cutting. The guests were welcomed by Chord 9, a ridiculously talented 4-piece jazz ensemble whose warm-up made my setup time so enjoyable. Fun fact: the groom is the drummer, but for some reason he didn’t play that day :) The upper level was set up with more moody colors, with more food and tables around an open dance floor and DJ stand.

The biggest piece of the design revolved around this amazing staircase. We placed a heavy, deluxe garland along the railings going to all three floors, with red satin ribbon at each swag. The effect was so cozy and Christmas-y!  We also placed a set of lanterns and glass cylinders with pillar candles at the base.

Why I Love Loose Mansion

The patriarch, Jacob Loose, created Cheez-Its (thank God for that!) and his daughter donated the land for one of Kansas City’s loveliest places (Loose Park). Not only do they hold daily significance in my life (did I mention my love for Cheez-Its?) but they built an unbelievable home. We are so lucky to have this gem in our city, and getting married there is really a dream.  The staff at the mansion is wonderful, helpful, and friendly.  They have a full selection of decor available for use, and if you get married over the holidays, their decorations are GORGEOUS. I highly recommend it, with the one drawback being that they do not have any ADA access to upper levels.
