Hi, I'm Stefanie, owner and lead designer of a Kansas City-based boutique wedding flower studio called KC Bloom.

My husband and I have dedicated our family to Jesus Christ, and we love being a part of a vibrant local church. Parenting our two young kiddos keeps us very busy (and very tired), and now we've added wrangling a goldendoodle/velociraptor puppy named Biscuit to our daily tasks.

We're committed to making our family life simple and joyful. This blog will highlight a lot of floral work and business, with sprinklings of home projects and recipes - my other two passions!

Real Weddings

Hi! I’m Stefanie, a Kansas City wedding florist, wife to a super cool guy, mom to two adorable kiddos, and Head Snuggler of a fluffy yellow pup. Obviously you’re here looking for real wedding inspiration, and I’ve got you covered.

Winter Wedding Flowers - Black & White Glam Bride & Bridesmaids

Alexis and I met first over a video call and we were a vibe from the start. She is an instant friend! She even brought 3 friends with her to my Christmas wreath workshop and we just had the best time. My sweet, kind, supportive brides are a treasure to me.

This fabulous December wedding, with a Scandinavian Cozy theme, featured 275 feet of fresh (heavy!) Western Cedar roping. The black and white wedding flowers featured evergreen and Rosemary sprigs that held a huge sentimental value. The balcony and staircase quickly became the star of the show when covered in thick evergreen garland. After testing the floral pieces on the hewn timber mantle, we decided to let it shine with just a simple draping of greenery.

The room was set in Oscars-style seating, with only black table linens and no place settings or decor on the tables. Once the ceremony was completed, the amazing team led by Heather Ong from The Perfect Touch, managed the entire flip of the room.  They laid out all of the pre-cut and organized greenery and garlands by table and made it look amazing.

This wonderful day – celebrating seven years of friendship turned to true love – was full of so many sentimental moments and special touches. Hallie Fry and her team captured everything from the steamy romance to their loving family, and the utter FUN experienced by all of the guests.

The Venue : The Ridge Wedding & Event Venue

This picturesque wedding venue, less than an hour from Kansas City, stands atop a literal ridge (hence the name) and has an amazing view. The Ridge is specifically designed to be very versatile. It’s a great balance of rustic and modern with wide spaces, a massive fireplace, and grand staircase with wraparound balcony. One reason I really love this venue is that everyone can access the building very early in the day.  We didn’t need to feel rushed and that is a huge plus for vendors. The bar is gorgeous, the bridal suite is filled with natural light, and the property is immaculate. I highly recommend The Ridge!

The Wedding: A Classic Black & White Wedding Floral Design

Alexis was such a lovely bride and working with her on designing wedding flowers was so easy.  She had a beautiful vision for a cozy winter wedding, and she executed it flawlessly. So many of the sweet little personal touches were her doing, and everything from their gifts to one another to the graphics she made for the screens above the bar – nothing went unnoticed.

For the bridal party, we did the classic white blooms with some black and evergreen mixed in. The rest of the decor was minimal and chic, so the bouquets were full of luscious, fluffy white blooms. It was such a joy to create their wedding flowers because I love Alexis so dearly. This job is really something!

There were so many guest tables that they decided upon a simple greenery and candles treatment for the centerpieces.  Given that we wouldn’t be there for the room transition, we provided all of the greenery pre-cut and organized into containers. This allowed the planning team to flip the room as quickly as possible.

Additionally, we pre-measured and cut the garland for the extremely long head table so that it was ready to roll out and place during the room flip.

The Floral Team Difference

Hiring a professional floral designer for your wedding adds so much value to your day. Specifically, this comes in handy for the big projects! Here, we hung 275 feet of fresh, heavy cedar garland, and even figuring out a way to stretch it to fit a portion we hadn’t planned on decorating. We hand-wired all of the sections of garland together to create seamless lengths for a very striking visual.
