Hi, I'm Stefanie, owner and lead designer of a Kansas City-based boutique wedding flower studio called KC Bloom.

My husband and I have dedicated our family to Jesus Christ, and we love being a part of a vibrant local church. Parenting our two young kiddos keeps us very busy (and very tired), and now we've added wrangling a goldendoodle/velociraptor puppy named Biscuit to our daily tasks.

We're committed to making our family life simple and joyful. This blog will highlight a lot of floral work and business, with sprinklings of home projects and recipes - my other two passions!

Missouri wedding florist summer wedding flowers bridal bouquet

Hi! I’m Stefanie, a Lees Summit wedding florist serving Kansas, Missouri, Michigan, and much of the Midwest. My main gig is wife to a super cool guy, mom to two adorable kiddos, and Head Snuggler of a fluffy yellow pup. Obviously you’re here looking for real wedding inspiration, not my life story, so let’s get going.

Summer Wedding Flowers – Lees Summit Wedding Florist

This one is really special because the bride is such a delight!  Not only is she a stunning beauty, but her kind, easygoing demeanor made it a joy to design this special day.  Grace did all of the planning for this event, which makes it even more impressive. She included so many personal touches and sweet touches – she really outdid herself!

Photography was provided by the lovely and talented Misty Rodda. She is a Missouri transplant, recently moving from Washington D.C., and Kansas City could not be more lucky to have her here!  I could go on and on about how extraordinary she is, but I’ll let her photos do the talking.

I loved Grace’s wedding flower color choices – all the bright summer colors, heavy on the pink!  When we arrived for set up, the pop of mint green in all of the napkins was absolutely perfect.  Grace did a really wonderful job of creating a joyful, colorful event.

Venue – The Historic Longview Mansion, Lees Summit MO

Our location for this serene, summer wedding is the Historic Longview Mansion in Lees Summit, Missouri. This property is a Kansas City wedding treasure, and I absolutely love the permanent white marquee tent they use for their large events. It is an exceptionally large space, and it gives the feeling of an outdoor wedding without the heat, sweat, bug bites, etc. The bridal suite is absolutely massive with large windows for natural light, perfect for pictures. The staff is so kind and helpful, and they have fantastic on-site catering. If you’re looking to book a historic venue, just know the property is limited in their ability to make modern updates. Even some of the general maintenance can be an arduous permitting process. Be prepared for some quirks, but all of the negatives are outweighed by charm and craftsmanship.

As a wedding florist, this is a really fun venue because the ceiling of the tent offers a lot of opportunity for adding visual depth. For Grace and Danny’s wedding, we added live Water Oak to the trusses and supports, as well as the chandeliers. The lights also received a treatment of colorful Wisteria branches for touches of pink.

All of the tables had a simple centerpiece of bud vases with ample candles to turn the evening into a cozy affair. We created several cocktail pieces for the bar tables, and a massive arrangement for the escort card table. We also provided a second large arrangement for the front of the church, which was transported and placed at the reception’s memorial table.

The bouquets and boutonnieres were all so sweet, with several tones of pink mixed with blue, lilac, butter yellow, and peach.

The Floral Team Difference – Lees Summit Wedding Florist

To truly capture the height of the reception space, we installed Water Oak branches on the structural elements which added color to the blank space.  This was a three-hour process, in 90 degree weather, and I lost count of the trips up and down the 25-foot ladder. These types of installations are not something you want to do on your wedding day. Hiring a florist for these details allows brides to just enjoy the wedding weekend!
